Analgesic is the medical term for a pain-killer, a drug that can provide relief from pain. Some analgesics stop pain by desensitizing local nerve endings (for example, in the painful joint); others work ‘centrally’ in the parts of the brain where pain is perceived.
Diclofenac diethylamine is an analgesic, a medicine that relieves pain. Diclofenac diethylamine belongs to a group of analgesics called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).
NSAID is an abbreviation for non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug. NSAIDs are a group of analgesics that are widely used to relieve pain and inflammation, and include diclofenac diethylamine, ibuprofen and aspirin. NSAIDs reduce the production of prostaglandins, which cause pain and inflammation.
Voltaren Emulgel Joint Pain works differently. It is a medicated gel containing a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory ingredient, which penetrates the skin to provide local relief of pain and inflammation.
Voltaren Emulgel is for temporary pain relief. The gel should not be used for more than 7 days for muscle and joint injuries unless recommended by a doctor. Talk to your doctor if your condition does not improve within 7 days, or if it gets worse.
